Upstate NY Comic Con welcomes visitors to come in costume and have fun cosplaying as their favorite character, and if you want you can join in on the cosplay contests! 

We will be having a cosplay contest for kids and one adults with prizes awarded to the best costumes!

ADULT COSPLAY CONTEST

KIDS COSPLAY CONTEST

Contest Rules:

  1. The Kids Cosplay Contest is for cosplayers ages of 12 and under. To ensure the safety of younger cosplayers, participants under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a legal adult.
  2. Cosplay costume and cosplayer must adhere to rules and policies listed below. 

RULES AND POLICIES

Cosplay/Weapons:

Upstate NY Comic Con is a family-friendly event; therefore all cosplayers are expected to abide by all of our rules and regulations. Failure to follow these rules will result in removal from the premises.

  • Keep costumes PG13, our event is a family friendly event.
  • Shoes must be worn at all times
  • All weapons will be reviewed and inspected before you enter into the event
  • No Live Steel – including swords, bayonets, and knives (sheathed or not), star knives, metal armor, any objects made of metal that have an edge (sharp or not). If bought inside the convention, please bring back to your car or hotel room.
  • No Projectile Weapons of any kind – including but not limited to – airsoft guns, bb guns, pellet guns, crossbows, dart guns, blowguns, water guns, pistols, stun guns, and tasers. Exception to the rule is guns with an orange non-removable tip and if they have no movable parts. No gun props will be allowed in the performance division of the Cosplay Competition, you will be disqualified.
  • All weapons will be subject to safety inspection upon admission to Hershey Comic Con. No exceptions. Props and replica weapons cannot pose a safety threat. No firearms, projectiles, thrown objects. No explosive devices, including but not limited to flashpots, confetti cannons, or items that produce similar special effects are allowed.
  • No Real Bows or authentic arrows
  • No Nunchaku – of any kind will be permitted. A nunchaku is defined as two sticks with a short chain or rope in between.
  • Your prop should not be able to hurt anyone in any way.

Policies

Upstate NY Comic Con is dedicated to providing a harassment-free con experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, age, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of convention participants in any form. Convention participants violating these rules will be reprimanded or expelled from the convention (without a refund) at the discretion of the organizers. If their is an escalation in the issue, the authorities will be called.

Harassment Includes:

Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, age, or religion; Sexual images in public spaces; Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following; Harassing photography or recording; Sustained disruption of talks or other events; Inappropriate physical contact; Unwelcome sexual attention; Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behavior. THIS MUST BE REITERATED – HANDS TO YOURSELF. COSPLAY IS NOT CONSENT. COSPLAY IS NOT CONSENT. SAY IT WITH ME: COSPLAY IS NOT CONSENT.
